Environmental Conservation

Zawadi Community Program is focused on ensuring sustainable food production systems and implement resilient agricultural practices that increase productivity and production, that help maintain ecosystems, that strengthen capacity for adaptation to climate change, extreme weather, drought, flooding and other disasters and that progressively improve land and soil quality.

At Zawadi, we view Environmental Conservation as the practice of preserving the natural world to prevent it from collapsing as a result of human activities, such as unsustainable agriculture, burning fossil fuels and deforestation at each community level. As a community of eco travelers, we hold a deep appreciation for the natural world and want to experience it in a way that is responsible, sustainable and meaningful. We focus on advocating for alternative energy sources such as solar energy and afforestation.

Reforestation and Afforestation

Reforestation is the process of planting trees in a forest where the number of trees has been decreasing. Afforestation is when new trees are planted or seeds are sown in an area where there were no trees before, creating a new forest.

Reforestation is crucial in combating or preventing deforestation or forest degradation, where forests shrink in size or are completely removed. As well as reducing a forest’s ability to absorb carbon dioxide.

Renewable Energy: Solar

The aim is to develop, implement and maintenance of Solar Energy in Local Communities and to expand access to energy services for households, enterprises, schools and health centers in the selected communities.

Dubbed the Zawadi community Power Project(ZCPP). We plan to  design a project that will include all stakeholders . The community and the organization will equally participate financially in putting up solar panels. We will have a different model for schools where by schools will receive full financial support in putting up solar panels .

Community solar projects permit everybody to profit from solar energy, whether they can or cannot put panels on a housetop.
