ZAWADI COMMUNITY PROGRAMME

The name Zawadi is a Swahili noun translated to as Gift or Present; we intend to be true to our name, a gift to the communities we interact and partner with.
Founded in 2021, Zawadi Community Programme is a progressive community oriented and development-based organization that advances children’s rights to education, empowerment through equality for women and girls. Advancing children’s rights to education, empowerment through gender equality for women and girls, clean water and sanitation, environmental conservation by engaging the community and partners. We strive for a just world that advances children’s rights to education, girls rights, gender equality, clean water and sanitation and environmental conservation. Actively in 5 counties across Kenya, pioneered in Kisumu, Homabay, Kisii, Kakamega and Busia
OUR PURPOSE
We strive for a just world that advances children’s rights to education, gender equality, water and sanitation, environmental preservation, and women empowerment

We engage people and partners to:

  • Empower children, young people and communities to make vital changes that tackle the root causes of discrimination against girls, exclusion and vulnerability.
  • Work with children and communities to prepare for and respond to crises and to overcome adversity.
  • Supporting communities access safe water and hygiene. We ensure children live in safe environment
  • Economic empowerment hence reducing gender gaps.
STRATEGY & AMBITION

To fulfil the promise of the 2030 Global Goals, our strategy is designed to deliver significant change for girls, boys and women, putting a special emphasis on gender equality.

We see clear links between fulfilling children’s rights, achieving gender equality and ending poverty. Every girl and boy have the right to be healthy, educated, protected, valued and respected in their own community and beyond.

We support children between the age of 7yrs- 22yrs, and women between 25yrs -35. We work to ensure that girls and boys know their rights, and have the skills, knowledge and confidence to fulfil them. This approach inspires and empowers children and communities to create long-lasting change.

We Are Active In 9 Counties Across The Country

Primarily in Kisumu, Homabay, Kisii, Kakamega, Busia
Our key areas of work of operation are:-

  • Improved access to basic, quality education
  • Quality healthcare including water, sanitation and hygiene, as well as adolescent and child health
  • Youth employability and economic opportunities
  • Women economic empowerment

LEADERSHIP

Board Of Directors

Zawadi community programme  is governed by a board of directors.

The Board of Directors oversees an Executive Team responsible for running day-to-day business operations, including programs and policy, marketing, philanthropy, public engagement and advocacy, donor relations, finance and human resources. Alongside the board of directors and consistent with Zawadis ’s youth-driven mission, Zawadi’s Youth Advisory Board provides input into decision-making while coordinating projects and campaigns related to Zawadi’s work.
