The name Zawadi is a Swahili noun translated to as Gift or Present; we intend to be true to our name, a gift to the communities we interact and partner with.
Founded in 2021, Zawadi Community Programme is a progressive community oriented and development-based organization that advances children’s rights to education, empowerment through equality for women and girls. Advancing children’s rights to education, empowerment through gender equality for women and girls, clean water and sanitation, environmental conservation by engaging the community and partners. We strive for a just world that advances children’s rights to education, girls rights, gender equality, clean water and sanitation and environmental conservation. Actively in 5 counties across Kenya, pioneered in Kisumu, Homabay, Kisii, Kakamega and Busia

Zawadi Community Programme is governed by a board of directors. The Board of Directors oversees an Executive Team responsible for running day-to-day business operations, including programs and policy, marketing, philanthropy, public engagement and advocacy, donor relations, finance and human resources. Alongside the board of directors and consistent with Zawadis ’s youth-driven mission, Zawadi’s Youth Advisory Board provides input into decision-making while coordinating projects and campaigns related to Zawadi’s work.
